Astrophotography Equipment

I've got some old pictures of my astrophotography gear here...

The refractor setup.

DontLookAtSun

One of my favorite warnings of all time.

According to Ed Ting "The white tube and lime green highlights were chosen, it is said, to remind one of lily pads in a koi pond, or a Japanese tea ceremony." I dig it. This is the F/10 Meade SCT tube on the G11 mount with the FS102 piggyback. The SCT used to be an LX50. The CCD camera is an ST-5C fromSBIG. The laptop is a vintage 486sx/33 but it does the for imaging and guiding. The night I took this photo ended up being an evil night filled with tech gremlins. Just about everything that could go wrong did: my relays quit working, the color filter wheel couldn't decide which filter was selected, the FS102 dewed up <ack!>, the wind picked up to 30mph and it rained during the early morning (luckily I had a tarp over everything). It was a nice sunset though, this view is facing east about 5 minutes after sunset.

Losmandy makes some handy mounts for piggybacking smaller telescopes.
